SECTION 1.  Following is a brief synopsis of the Documented healing and Non Toxic Qualities of the Polar Powder Coldpack.

SECTION 4.  How Polar Powder tm Cold Therapy Works.  Cyrotherapy (Cold Therapy) is a widely used therapeutic treatment for musculoskeletal injuries and other painful maladies.  Cold causes an immediate release of endorphins, a vascular constriction (10 to 20 minutes) and a vascular dilation (15 to 20 minutes)  This process stops or greatly reduces pain, slows down swelling and the allows the blood to carry the fluid and toxins that have been released.  It reduces metabolism in tissue to relieve the deleterious effect of ischemia (a lack of blood supply in an organ or tissue)  An immediate release of endorphins (the body's natural opiates) A decrease in nervous transmissions in pain fibers It decreases excitability of free nerve endings It inhibits spinal neurons It raises the pain threshold Acts as a counterirritant  Cold serves to remove heat from the localized area of treatment. Therefore, the applied method of therapy must be cold enough, and remain cold long enough, to effectively reach the deep tissue for the prescribed time.   Additionally it must conform or mold to the body in such a way as to give adequate coverage. For example, when treating a joint such as a knee, elbow, wrist or foot and ankle cold should be applied so it goes completely around and extends a little beyond the joint or area of treatment.

Polar Powder's unique formula allows it to remain flexible so it easily molds to the body.  Pain and muscle spasms are common responses to injury. Tendons and ligaments are tissues that connect muscles and bones to each other and to other tissues. The basic building material of muscles, tendons, and ligaments is a protein called collagen. Under normal conditions, collagen acts like a rubber band: It stretches when tension is applied (as when we pull a rubber band) and returns to its normal length when the tension is released. However, when the collagen is stretched too far, it tears. In this tearing process, blood vessels are torn and blood cells and fluid escape into the spaces among the muscle fibers. This is sometimes visible on the surface of the skin as a swollen, bruised area.  Cold applied to the area decreases the flow of this fluid into the tissues and slows the release of chemicals that cause pain and inflammation. Cold decreases feeling in an area by reducing the ability of the nerve endings to conduct impulses. It may also reduce pain by "countering" the injury.  Cold also decreases the activity of cells to reduce swelling and internal bleeding at the site of acute injury. Cooling the deep tissue also reduces muscle spasm by reducing the muscle's ability to maintain a contraction (contractility).
